I think one of the main reason Scotland didn't qualify for the world cup, is because we were more focused in offering the nation a fun packed couple of month of cycling festivals and bike events.

After a successful festival in 2013, the Edinburgh Festival of Cycling kicks off once again for another 11 days of biking madness. Also, Bike Week gets our cycling legs warmed up. There really is something for everyone even mildly interested in our 2 wheeled friends to get involved in.

Edinburgh Festival of Cycling starts today and carries on until Sunday the 22nd June. With inspiring talks from cyclist adventurers, advice on how to keep your own bike well maintained and even a Bicycle Ballet. There is also the opportunity to take part in the Arthurs Seat Hill Climb Challenge, the annual 60 mile night ride to Dunbar, and be Sir Chris Hoy for the day at a taster session at the Meadowbank Velodrome. The list goes on... Programmes are available from most bike shops.

Bike Week, in association with Cycling Scotland also cranks up for a week from Sunday the 14th June to promote biking as a healthy and enjoyable mode of transport to the nation. This is a great opportunity to take part in cycling events around Scotland. It aims at giving families and individuals advice on great cycle routes and a reason to dust the cobwebs of their bikes.

We'll certainly be taking some time out from guiding tours to join in on the action, so why don't you join us and get on out there and enjoy yourselves!
